Many real workload benchmark suites exist, and throughout this book, we explore two such benchmark suites, SPLASH-2 (Woo et al., ) and PARSEC (Bienia, ). As an example, one such benchmark, CANNEAL from the PARSEC suite, has a partial f ij matrix that can be seen in (). An examination of the customer base shows interest in Virtual Instrument's workload analytics, correlation and monitoring, or in its data collection capabilities. Others were interested in Load DynamiX's ability to generate automated testing via use of synthetic workloads generated by Load DynamiX's enterprise software, and its workload. Applying the Three Laws of System Testing, synthetic workloads do saturate hardware components unnaturally (Law 1), bottlenecks generated by the workload are not accurate (Law 2), and the test workload does not correspond in any realistic manner to a production workload (Law 3). Faban Workload Generator. Faban is a Markov chain based workload generator, i.e., it assumes that each client is in a particular state at any time. The client then issues a series of commands, which is characteristic of that state.

Workload Generator can utilize historical business performance data to create a forecast for any department. Using your labor standards and workforce policies, Workload Generator will create a set of suggested shifts to match the forecasted business volumes.
This type of analysis and planning would typically take many hours (if not days). Synthetic Workload. In the first experiment, a set of clients repeatedly request the same file, where the file size is varied in each test.
The simplicity of the workload in this test allows the servers to perform at their highest capacity, since the requested file is cached in the server's main memory. Washington University in St.

Capturing the spatio-temporal behavior of real traffic data. The RECAP Workload Generator/Anonymisation Tool takes as input a data set (e.g. a multidimensional time series) and uses neural networks to learn the statistical properties of the input set.
Based on what it has learned, it generates new synthetic data sets with the same statistical properties as the original data set but not individual data items. (Open source) WorkloadTools (download and instructions) – Gianluca Sartori’s command line tools to collect a workload (either with tracing or XE), analyze the data, and replay the workload in real time.
If I was a full time DBA in charge of SQL Server load testing at a company, this would be the one I’d start with. Capacity planning tools aim at monitoring and evaluating computational infrastructures resources in terms of workloads. The capacity advisor is a capacity planning tool inside the HP virtual server environment - VSE.
This paper describes the development and use of a synthetic workload generator named WGCap (workload generator for capacity advisor), a flexible synthetic workload generator that. The Differences Between Synthetic, Real World, and Hybrid Benchmarks.

Googles and Facebooks of this world are so generous with their latest machine learning Author: Tirthajyoti Sarkar. This is achieved using processes that generate artificial load, to arrive to the historical load values, in case that it will be necessary.
 – Synthetic Workload Generation for Load-Balancing Experiments. Pankaj Mehra, Benjamin Wah. A User-Oriented Syntetic Workload Generator. W-L. Kao, R. Iyer. Proc. 12 th Int’l Conf. The generator is written entirely in Java and provides an easily configurable and visual API to define, execute and analyze Web performance tests from the client side.
It presents partial capability to generate dynamic user’s workload by defining a navigation test based on patterns (e.g., regular expressions). The synthetic tasks are generated by a synthetic workload generator (SWG) from the user's specification written in SWSL, a synthetic workload specification language.
We describe the design goals of our SW and discuss its software. CloudGen is a new synthetic workload generator that allows the simulation of the network traffic created by cloud storage services in various realistic scenarios.

We propose the Georgia Tech Cloud Workload Specification Language (GT-CWSL) that provides a structured way for specification of application workloads.
The GT-CWSL combines the specifications of benchmark and workload models to create workload specifications that are used by a synthetic workload generator to generate synthetic workloads for. Workload Generation Faban is an open source3 Markov-chain, closed-loop , session-based synthetic workload generator.
(See for an overview of approaches to Web load testing.) Unlike simpler workload generators such as ab or httperf, Faban distinguishes N. Lazer, Here are what I have found: Load and Performance is a huge list of tools, you can find out what product is better for you, but I could not see any tool that has been created specially for Oracle databases (on my first sight).
CloudGen is a new synthetic workload generator that allows the simulation of the network traffic created by cloud storage services in various realistic scenarios. More details can be found at: G.
Gonçalves, I. Drago, A. It measures the performance of the file system under some pre-determined workload. It may use either a real application to generate a workload (e.g., compiling and linking a large piece of software), or it may itself be a custom application that drives the file system with a synthetic workload.
The goal ofCited by: 2. This paper focuses on design issues for multimedia distribution architectures and the impact workload characteristics have on architecture design. Our contribution is an analysis of server load and user behavior in a news-on-demand environment, with focus on access patterns, popularity modeling, and the formation of traffic peaks.
Finally, we evaluate an existing synthetic workload generator. Storage Benchmarking with DiskSpd. It is a synthetic I/O subsystem workload generator that runs via a command line.
It produces similar tests to SQLIO, such as read or write, random or. Web server performance is tightly bound to the workload the server has to support. Therefore, understanding the nature of the server workload is particularly important in capacity planning and overload control of Web servers.
Web performance analysis can be done, a priori, with a synthetic generation of Web system workload. However, performance analysis results depend on the accuracy Author: Carlos Marcelo Pedroso, Keiko Veronica Ono Fonseca.
In this paper we analyze aggregate workload characteristics of multiple I/O streams in shared storage environment such as storage area network (SAN). In these shared storage environments, independent and separate user data spaces make the access streams interleaved and localized.
To evaluate overall storage performance or optimize data layout, it is important to understand aggregate workload. We also tested the performance of Retroscope using a synthetic workload. Our test cluster consisted of 2 quad-core machines with 16 GB or RAM connected over WiFi.
Each machine was hosting the Ignite node and a synthetic workload generator that streamed events to both Ignite nodes. This cluster was able to intake ~16, events per second. Figure 3: Instrumentation points. Instrumentation points for the web server and database server in our test e-commerce site.
Some components such as the kernel module and the IIS process generate events for request arrival, parsing, etc. Additional instrumentation inserted by Magpie (shown in gray) also generates events; all these events are logged by the Event Tracing for Windows.
The GT-CWSL combines the specifications of benchmark and workload models to create workload specifications that are used by a synthetic workload generator to generate synthetic workloads for performance evaluation of cloud computing applications.
Show more Show less. Scheduler is a window-based stand-alone tool that can also be used as a synthetic workload generator in an integrated tool set that consists of a timing tool, a schedulability analyzer, and a real-time monitor/debugger.", author = "Hideyuki Tokuda and Makoto Kotera", year = "", month = decCited by:.
The toolbox can generate synthetic workload patterns based on the spatial (location) and temporal (time) distributions of workers and tasks.
As shown in the figure below, it also takes into account the various real-world constraints, such as worker region and worker capacity, worker activeness and temporal workload.Start with a basic workload generator (such as aio-stress) that produces sequential and random reads and writes across a variety of I/O sizes and queue depths.
Following is a graph from a series of aio-stress runs, each of which performs four stages: sequential write. Load generation is effectively the inverse of service starvation. Rather than scaling down a service tier to the point of failure, you generate synthetic loads on your services until they reach the point of failure.
A percentage of your normal workload then is based on the amount of synthetic workload that you were able to successfully process.
